James Fisher became the City Manager for the City of Murphy on March 31, 2008, and has served in city management since 1989.
Mr. Fisher holds a Masters in Public Affairs from University of Texas at Dallas and a Bachelor of Business Administration from West Texas A&M University. Also, Mr. Fisher is a Credentialed Manager with the International City / County Management Association and is a Certified Public Manager from the William P. Hobby Center for Public Service of Texas State University.
Mr. Fisher is active in the Texas City Management Association serving as the Ethics Chair from 2005-2008 and was selected as the Texas City Administrator of the Year in 2004. Mr. Fisher is also active in the International City / County Management Association, Murphy Chamber of Commerce, West Texas A&M Alumni Association and the UT Dallas Alumni Association.
In addition to his public administration activities, Mr. Fisher is active in his church as a deacon, bible study leader and volunteer. He is married to Christi Beth, his wife of 20 years and has 2 children.
