Adopt-A-Spot

The Adopt-A-Spot program allows individuals and organizations to adopt public spaces in Murphy for litter cleanups and/or plantings.  It is a great way to show pride in our community.

Program Highlights

Any person or group that adopts a spot will be required to perform at least 4 (four) cleanups/ plantings quarterly, each calendar year, January - December.  At the completion of each cleanup/planting a report is required to be filled out online in the Texas Litter Database (txlitter.org).  Each spot that is adopted is a 2(two) year commitment.  If you wish to renew your adopted spot, priority will be given to current adopters in good standing.

For litter pickup spots:

Trash bags and gloves will be provided for scheduled cleanups at no cost by the City. Once the pickup has been completed, bags should be placed at the designated place for the City to pick up for disposal. Proper attire should be worn for cleanups; thick soled shoes, sunscreen, bug spray, bright colored shirts, etc.

For flower planting/ bed maintenance spots:

Plants, mulch and other supplies will be provided by the City for scheduled plantings. These adopted spots should be cared for by keeping trash/ foreign debris out of the beds, pulling weeds, planting flowers, and other general care.
