Murphy is located in Collin County, the wealthiest county in Texas and one of the wealthiest 1% of counties in the United States. The city is only 20 minutes from Dallas and other wealthy suburban cities with easy access via the President George Bush Tollway and State Highway 75 to FM 544. It is one of the fastest growing communities in one of the fastest growing counties in the nation. Murphy’s 5.3 square miles is located between the cities of Richardson, Plano, Sachse, Wylie and Parker Texas. The city's population has more than quadrupled since the 2000 US Census, and it has become home to high income, young professionals seeking to escape the fast-paced life of its larger urban neighbors.

Continuously being named as one of the best cities in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex to live in by D Magazine, Murphy has become a popular target for residential and commercial development with competitively priced commercial land and large residential lots.
