Drawing Submittals –
Three (3) copies of drawings are required for plan review. Drawings must be drawn to scale, dimensioned and of sufficient clarity. Drawings must be submitted along with a completed permit application form. Staple a copy of a certified survey plat behind each set of plans.
Necessary Drawings –
The following is a general outline of drawings necessary for plan review (Plans Examiner may
request additional information if necessary).
A Certified Survey Plat showing location of pool on the property with dimensions from all property lines and all buildings.
Pool plans must be drawn to scale with dimension to the scale of 1/8” = 1’0”.
Plans must include a section drawing of the pool structure which includes all depth dimensions.
Plans must also include dimensions of the equipment foot print and dimensions showing the equipment’s location from the property line. Above ground piping is considered part of the equipment foot print.
Submitted swimming pool plans must bear the applicable electric company approval stamp.
The depth of the swimming pool shall maintain a ratio of 1:1 from the foundation of any structure using the maximum depth of the pool (i.e. –for a maximum depth of 6’- 4” the pool must be located a minimum of 6’ – 4” from the foundation).
There must be a minimum setback of 5’ maintained around the entire property line which will be used for drainage. No structures (including raised beds or decorative boulders), decking, or equipment may be located within this setback.
Permit Fees –
One hundred percent (100%) of fees must be paid at the time of permit application submittal.
1. Swimming Pool (in ground) $275.00
2. Swimming Pool (above ground) $150.00
3. Swimming Pool / Spa combination $275.00
4. Spa only (above ground) $150.00
Work started w/out Permit permit fee $ x 2 Note –
No pool will pass final inspection unless it meets all the pool enclosure requirements found in Chapter 156 of the City of Murphy’s Code of Ordinances and the 2006 International Residential Code Section AG 105.
All doors leading into the pool area must be equipped with a pool door alarm. See requirements found in the 2006 IRC Section AG 105.
ALL POOL COMPANY ADVERTISING SIGNS PLACED IN RESIDENTIAL AREAS are only permitted to be displayed while the contractor is physically present on the job site. NO ADVERTISING IS ALLOWED TO BE DISPLAYED OVERNIGHT.
