The Murphy City Council adopted an ad valorem tax rate of .4683 per $100 valuation for Fiscal Year 2006-2007 on September 18, 2006.  This is the same as the current tax rate of .4683 per $100 valuation.  The maintenance and operations rate of $0. 234468 funds most City services such as Police, Fire, Animal Control, Parks, Administration and Public Works.  The debt rate of $0.233832 pays for the long term debt of the City.

The City of Murphy, Texas adopted a tax rate that will raise more taxes for maintenance and operations than last year’s tax rate.  The tax rate will raise taxes for maintenance and operations on a $100,000 home by approximately $50.61.

In addition, the City of Murphy, Texas adopted a tax rate that will raise less taxes for debt service than last year’s tax rate.  The tax rate will decrease the taxes paid for debt service on a $100,000 home by approximately $50.61.
