“Murphy Fire-Rescue provides a full range of fire and emergency services including fire suppression, rescue and advanced life support emergency medical response to a community of approximately 14,000 and a primary response area of 5.2 square miles. The department also has a Fire Prevention division that offers fire alarm and sprinkler plan review, inspections and fire prevention education.
FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC
The department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of full-time firefighter/paramedic. We currently have one opening with the goal of establishing an eligibility list for any future openings. Applicants must be a high school graduate or possess a GED. Applicants must be certified, at a minimum, as Basic Structural Fire Protection personnel through the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. In addition, applicants must be able to certify or license as a Paramedic through the Texas Department of State Health Services no later than 30 days from the date of the written exam and to hold a Texas Class B driver’s license or obtain one within four weeks of employment.
If selected for further evaluation, individuals will be required to complete a physical performance evaluation, followed by a written exam and oral boards upon successful completion of each phase. Individuals who receive a contingent job offer will be required to pass a medical physical, drug screening and system-specific EMS protocol test.
