Police Chief Relieved of Duties

Murphy, TX - As of today, Chief Billy Myrick is no longer with the Murphy Police Department. He has been relieved of his duties as Police Chief and terminated from the City of Murphy. Myrick served as a patrol officer for one year before becoming Chief of Police in 2005.

Effective immediately, Louis A. Barrow, Jr. will serve as Interim Police Chief. Chief Barrow has been in law enforcement for 38 years of which the last 19 have been as chief of police or interim chief of police in 5 Texas cities. He previously served as a management consultant and president of a counter terror security company. During his long tenure, he has worked extensively with the Department of Justice and the Department of Defense.

The City and the Police Department wish to move forward in providing excellent service and safety for the citizens and the community.
