2nd Annual Murphy Police Explorer

We hope that you can join in the fun at the Murphy Police Explorer’s 2nd Annual Golf Tournament. The tournament will be held at the beautiful OakRidge Country Club in Garland, TX on Saturday, October 24, 2009. The sole purpose for this Fundraiser Golf Tournament is to raise money for our Explorers to Compete in the National Competition in Atlanta, GA in the summer of 2010. In this competition Explorer Post’s from across the country compete against each other in several different Police Scenario’s. Our explorers work and train very hard year round to prepare for this competition which only comes around every even numbered year. We hope that you can find the time to be apart of something great and we look forward to seeing all who can attend. Below you will find a list of some activities and also a brief history statement of our Police Explorer Post.

Activities: During your golf game you will have the opportunity to engage in some skills test’s that will have cash prize winnings. Also there will be a putting contest before the tournament begins. Immediately following the tournament there will be a Hamburger Buffet and awards reception. At that time we will have the raffle and the winners will be announced.

Brief History: The Murphy Police Explorers were started in Murphy in 2005. Since then we have competed in 5 State Competitions and 1 National Competition. Due to the outstanding efforts portrayed by our Explorers at these events we have managed to win 25 combined Trophy’s, which you can see displayed at the Murphy Police Department Headquarters. We currently have approximately 10 dedicated Explorers ranging from ages 15 to 18. Each one of our Explorers had to undergo an application process along with an Oral Review Board. They have worked very hard for what they have earned and are looking forward to many more trophies to come.
