FRIENDS OF THE PARKS INFORMATION

The Parks and Recreation Board and the City of Murphy Parks Department want to provide homeowners’ associations, civic organizations and schools the opportunity to make an impact on the cleanliness and appearance of our parks.  By accepting the responsibility of litter cleanups in your adopted park, your group is providing community service, showing initiative, increasing litter awareness, taking ownership and demonstrating pride.

The adopting group agrees to:

  1. Hold litter cleanups in the adopted park at least once per quarter (based on the City of Murphy’s fiscal year, which runs October 1 through September 30).
  2. Report the cleanup date, the number of participating volunteers, the number of hours worked, the number of trash bags filled during the cleanup and return the Hold Harmless Release forms.
  3. Abstain from installing any plant materials unless approved by Parks Department.

Cleanups are to be scheduled at least once during each of the following quarters:

October – December
January – March
April – June
July – September

The Parks department will provide trash bags if they are needed.

For more information on the Friends of the Parks program or to join the program, please contact the coordinator, David Bottlinger at 972-468-4000 or dbottlinger@murphytx.org.
