MURPHY, Texas (February 21, 2025) - Get ready BBQ lovers! The first-ever Backyard BBQ Competition is happening on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 11:00am to 3:00pm at Murphy Central Park. This mouthwatering event will bring together the best backyard pitmasters in town! Do you have what it takes to claim the title of Brisket Master? Grab your grill/smoker, gather your cooking team, and put your skills to the test in this ultimate BBQ cook-off. Don’t want to compete? Be part of the people’s choice competition! Teams will entice your taste buds with a meat of their choice and a sweet or savory side dish.

People’s Choice Tasting – YOU be the judge! Purchase a $20 wristband to sample incredible BBQ and vote for your favorite.

Sign up online before March 1, 2025. Spaces are limited and Murphy residents will receive priority access!
Registration Details:
Entry Fee: $50 per cooking team (up to 4 members)
Categories: Brisket Battle & People’s Choice (public tasting - tickets on sale soon)
Health & Safety: Participants must obtain a temporary health permit and food handler’s certificate to compete.
Judging & Awards
Competitors’ brisket will be judged based on appearance, taste, and tenderness by a panel of local taste experts. The People’s Choice winner will be chosen by YOU through a token-based voting system.
