Tree City USA

What is Tree City USA?

Murphy became a part of Tree City USA in fall of 2010. Tree City USA is a program designed to provide the tools necessary for forestry management to cities and communities across America. Becoming a Tree City USA is a commitment to caring for and maintaining Murphy's trees. Today there are more than 3,400 Tree City USA communities which serve as home to more than 135 million Americans.

  • An established Tree Ordinance. Murphy City Council passed the Murphy Tree Care Ordinance on
    March 1, 2011.
  • A community forestry program with an annual budget of at least $2 per capita.
  • An Arbor Day Observance Proclamation. Murphy City Council has announced an Arbor Day Proclamation each year since becoming a part of Tree City USA.
