Safe Exchange

As more retail transactions take placed online with many of the exchanges on a face-to-face basis, the Murphy Police Department has established a location designated as a safe exchange spot.

When finalizing a purchase or exchange from a private individual conducted on Craigslist, eBay, Facebook, Nextdoor or any other social media site, it is advisable that you conduct your transaction in a public place and monitored by a third party.

That’s what he safe exchange spot will offer.

The site is located in the parking lot of the Police Department located at 206 N. Murphy Road. There is 24 hour surveillance at the location. 

The safe exchange spot is also a preferred location for the exchange of children in shared custody situations.  Parents can safely and securely hand over their children without the anxiety of doing so in isolation.

Prominent signs have been erected to indicate the safe exchange spot’s location.
